Petrit Halilaj
Kosovar, born 1986

Halilaj was a child during the conflict in the former Yugoslavia and spent years living in a refugee camp with his family after fleeing the violence in Kosovo. These traumatic memories have a continued and deep resonance on his work today. This piece attempts to reconstruct the Natural History Museum in Pristina, which was destroyed during the war. The furniture used here was appropriated from the debris of the Natural History Museum after its destruction.
