Edgar Calel
Guatemalan, born 1987

Calel is a Maya artist. The Mayan people perform rituals and ceremonies where offerings are presented to thank their ancestors and the land for life and their knowledge. The intention of these offerings is to bring visibility to the Mayan’s existence as a people and rewrite ancestral memories that are dominated by the colonial architecture and history represented here.
