Florian Maier-Aichen
German (b. 1973)

Through the use of digital photography, Maier-Aichen invites the viewers to contemplate our perception of what is real and what we believe to be real. In this work, what appears to be a photograph of a falling smokestack is, in fact, not reality—instead, large sections of the work are drawn by the artist. In this way, Maier-Aichen creates a world where fact and fiction exist together with the intent that we should question more what is right before our eyes.
