Jill Magid
American (b. 1973)
In 2005, Magid was commissioned by the AIVD, the Dutch Intelligence and Security Agency, to provide the “human face†of the organization. She did this by meeting 18 agents privately in various locations in Holland, and recording personal information about them in a series of notebooks. In addition to an exhibit on these agents in The Hague in 2008, Magid wrote a novel about her experiences. The AIVD did not like what they read, and confiscated it. She has since exhibited a redacted version of this work at the Tate Modern in London, which also has been confiscated by the AIVD. The works shown here are from this novel, the first pages of the initial and last chapters of the book.
