Janice Kerbel
Candian, born 1969

This work is an imagined sports commentary of the perfectly average baseball game played over the last century. The commentary is for the first and second innings, lasting 15 minutes and 15 seconds, and 14 minutes and 20 seconds, respectively. There is then no sound for two hours, three minutes, and 25 seconds, the length of time of the remainder of an average game. Then the play begins again. Kerbel’s work is interested in the fine line between fiction and reality. This work is simultaneously the most likely baseball game to be played and one that almost surely will never be played.
